About
The Clan Donald Educational and Charitable Trust exists to promote the good and longstanding relations between the United States of America and Great Britain. Each year the Trust helps to fulfill its mission by granting a scholarship to a U.S. citizen pursuing a degree at a Scottish university. The Trust also sponsors the annual Ligonier Highland Games.
Scholarship
Clan Donald Educational and Charitable Trust Scholarship
Each year, the Trust may grant a scholarship to a United States citizen who is looking to study in Great Britain. Past recipients have pursued advanced degrees at Scotland’s respected institutions of higher learning.
Interested applicants should email applications to admin@clandonaldtrust.com by May 15, 2025. The Trust will consider students pursuing a coarse in humanities and we are particularly interested in students who are studying a topic that relates to Scottish culture or history.
Applications should include:
- A cover letter with a thorough statement of proposes study and an explanation as to how your experience will relate to or better the relations between the United States and Scotland.
- Transcripts
- 3 letters of reference which should be sent directly to the Trust from the author.
The Ligonier Highland Games
The Ligonier Highland Games are held annually each September at Idewild Park near Ligonier, Pennsylvania. Guests can experience highland and country dancing, celtic music, highland athletic events and, of course, the stirring sounds of the pipes and drums.
The 66th annual Ligonier Highland Games will be held on September 13, 2025.
